Forest School

Inspiring Curiosity Through Outdoor Learning

Hockliffe’s Forest School provides children with regular opportunities to learn, explore and develop in a natural outdoor environment. Through hands-on experiences, pupils are encouraged to develop a lifelong appreciation for the natural world.

Forest School is an important part of Hockliffe’s curriculum and supports children's personal, social and emotional development, alongside their academic learning. Sessions are carefully planned to allow children to learn through discovery and play, helping them build resilience, independence and self-esteem.

What Happens at Forest School?

Children take part in a wide range of engaging activities, including:

  • Nature exploration and wildlife observation
  • Den building and shelter construction
  • Outdoor art and creative projects
  • Tool use and practical woodland skills
  • Team-building challenges and problem-solving activities
  • Environmental awareness and conservation projects
  • Seasonal learning activities linked to the curriculum

Every session is designed to encourage children to work collaboratively, think creatively and develop confidence in their own abilities.

Learning Beyond the Classroom

Hockliffe’s Forest School provides a broad and enriching education for every child. By taking learning outdoors, we create memorable experiences that help children connect with nature, challenge themselves and develop the skills they need to thrive both in school and beyond.

We believe that some of the most valuable learning takes place when children are given the freedom to explore, discover and grow in the natural world.
